Organization’s Mission: Delaware Art Museum connects people to art, offering an inclusive and essential community resource that through its collections, exhibitions and programs generate creative energy that sustains, enriches, empowers, and inspires. Position Description: The Museum Board consists of 25 to 30 dedicated individuals who guide the institution through the development of long-range plans and policies. Board Members are elected by the Membership at the Annual Meeting in May and serve a three year term (renewable once). The full Board meets 5 times per year, generally on Tuesday mornings from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Board members are expected to become conversant with and involved in almost every facet of the Museum: its mission, goals and objectives, programs, governance, and finances. They are also expected to remain constantly aware of the organization’s mission, promote it in the community and provide ideas and efforts to facilitate fund raising efforts. As keepers of the public trust, Board Members should take seriously their responsibility to setting policy that will insure the Museum’s long-term sustainability.
